Enterprise High Schools senior class added another milestone to its athletic legacy Wednesday afternoon.

Twelve Wildcat student-athletes signed college scholarships to continue their athletic careers Wednesday at the EHS Auditorium, boosting the senior class total to ink an athletic college letter of intent to 23 in nine different sports.

Previously, four athletes signed in November and seven others in February.

When you look at the group and judge across the board the success of getting the kids to the next level, I dont know if we will ever match that again, Enterprise athletic director Kevin Collins said. That certainty makes this group special.

This is 22 years for me and I dont remember a representation across the board at Enterprise from the (number of) sports, to (the number of) the divisions (NCAAs) to a lot of states represented. It is something unique.

But the group didnt just excel in the athletic arena, but in the classroom. Collins said two valedictorians and probably 14-15 honor students were among the signees.

It is impressive group, Collins said. Well-rounded, good on the field, good in the classroom. They are the total package.

Members of the class were honored to be part of a historical feat.

Its awesome, baseball standout Dalton Dalrymple said. We have a great group of seniors this year. Obviously (there are) a bunch of good athletes in the class.

Dalton Dalrymple, baseball, Huntingdon College

On signing: Its great. I have always loved baseball. It is good to know that I get to play four more years. It is good feeling.

On Huntingdon: I like the coaches and the atmosphere. I went up and watched a game and it seems like they have a good thing going on up there.

Jacob Davis, boys soccer, University of West Alabama

On signing: I feel great. It is an honor to sign with a college. It has been one of my dreams to play college ball and I am finally realizing it, so it is pretty good.

On UWA: Its a new program. This will be the first year they will have a boys soccer team and I think I can contribute and help establish a team. I am making history. I will be one of the first people to play for the University of West Alabama.

John Evans, boys soccer, University of Montevallo

On signing: It felt great. It is like a dream come true. I have always wanted to play college soccer. When I was little it was my goal to get to the pros and I have to go through college to get to the pros.

On Montevallo: They are a good Division-II school. They have a solid program already intact. Last year they were ranked in the top 25 in the nation and the year before they were ranked in the top 10, so I am going in to a place I can compete at the highest level.

Kimberly Hernandez, volleyball, Faulkner State

On signing: I am so excited. This opportunity came at the right moment when I had lost hope about if I would be able play volleyball. It came at a (club) tournament (last month). It means a lot because I have been playing since I was seven. It was always a dream of mine to move on to a higher level to play.

On Faulkner State: It is small campus. It is really cozy. It is close to home. The opportunity just opened itself, so I wasnt too picky about it.
Riley Hess, golf, Young Harris College

On signing: It means a lot. I am the only one to get an athletic scholarship or go to college in my family. I feel I have worked the hardest I ever have, so I feel I deserve it.

On Young Harris: It is a small college (in North Georgia) and I prefer small colleges and smaller classes.

Andi Larese, girls soccer, Columbus State University

On signing: I feel relieved that all my hard work has paid off. It feels good.

On Columbus State: I really like the soccer coach and their whole soccer program is really nice. It is a D-II program and they are very competitive, so they will push me to work harder.

Caitlin Lee, volleyball, Birmingham Southern

On signing: It is kind of unreal. I am real excited about getting to playing in college and to keep playing volleyball. It (volleyball) is something I really love.

On Birmingham Southern: The coach (Judy Green) seems really great. She is really passionate about the program and volleyball in general. I think I can learn a lot from her. The team is really nice and supportive.

Isabel Pineiro, girls soccer, University of North Alabama

On signing: It is really exciting because it is like a new start and I am really looking forward to that.

On UNA: I am looking to majoring in computer science and their education program offers that plus they have an excellent soccer program, so it was like the perfect fit.

Mary Robinson, volleyball/girls basketball, Faulkner State

On signing: I really couldnt decide on the sports. I really like basketball a lot and I just recently got into volleyball in ninth grade. I get the best of both worlds to play both in college. I was excited about that.

On doing both in college: It will be a little difficult time wise, but I am willing to put in the work. I do love both sports a lot, so I will be willing to maintain the time and have fun with it.

Demetrius Rogers, boys soccer, University of West Alabama

On signing: Its huge. Midway through my high school career, I didnt know if I wanted to play soccer. I started doubting myself, but I had a lot of people telling me I could, so I had to keep working to reassure myself I could do it, so it is pretty huge.

On West Alabama: It is a new program, so I am looking to go in and start a legacy in soccer.

Marley Strahan, softball, Wallace College

On signing: It is really exciting because I have always wanted to play softball in college. I am just glad I had the opportunity.

On playing close to home: Yes that was a factor because I dont think I am ready to go off to a big school yet. I am glad I get to stay here.

Tyler Stump, baseball, Enterprise State Community College

On signing: It feels good. It is a dream come true. I am ready to get to work and get ready for the fall.

On ESCC: Coach (Tim) Hulsey is a great coach and a great guy. I look forward to playing for him and staying close to home.
